Before you transfer, before you click, before you go — check.
Somebody sent a message, offered a job, sent a link, or called to say you are in trouble. These are the patterns that show up most often in Thailand, and the numbers that actually answer. Not for grandparents only: the largest group of fraud victims in Thailand is aged thirty to forty-four.
The numbers that answer
| Number | What it is |
|---|---|
| 1441 | Anti Online Scam Operation Center (AOC), 24 hours. Call immediately if money has already been transferred — they can freeze the receiving account. AOC works only through 1441; it has no social media accounts. |
| 1300 | Ministry of Social Development and Human Security hotline — job offers abroad, being held against your will, trafficking. |
| 1323 | Department of Mental Health, 24 hours, free. |
| 1387 | Childline Thailand, for under-18s, 24 hours. |
| 1669 | Medical emergency. |
| 1599 | Royal Thai Police hotline. |
| 191 | Police, emergency. |
All numbers checked October 1, 2026. If one changes, tell us at ploy@ploy.com.
The patterns
A job abroad, or at the border
A salary too good for the work, no experience needed, leave now, cross a border, someone will "handle everything" — and they ask for your passport.
Never give your passport to a recruiter, and always tell your family before you travel. Call 1300.
A call from "the police", "the bank", "the post office", "the court"
A call saying you have an illegal parcel, your account was used for laundering, there is a warrant — and you should "transfer the money for inspection" or install an app. Real police and real banks never ask you to move money over the phone.
Hang up. Call the organization back yourself on its official number. If you already transferred, call 1441 now.
A link to click, an app to install
"Your parcel could not be delivered," "your electricity bill is overdue," "claim your refund," with a link — or an .apk file to install from outside the Play Store.
Do not click, do not install. Open that organization's own app instead.
An easy loan, a guaranteed investment
Instant approval, but pay a "fee" first — or an investment that pays every day, lets you withdraw once, and never again.
No real loan charges a fee before you receive the money, and no real investment is guaranteed.
Someone you met online who needs money
Weeks of messages, never a video call, and then one day they are stuck at customs, or ill, and need money urgently.
Someone who cares about you does not ask for money from a person they have never met face to face.
What ploy.com will always do
- Health. Anything here is general information, not a diagnosis. See a doctor or a pharmacist. Emergency: 1669.
- Someone who says they do not want to be alive anymore is answered gently and given 1323, every time.
- Questions about the monarchy are declined outright, and we say so plainly rather than quietly deflecting.
- Job-application fees. ploy.com never permits charging a job applicant a fee, for any reason.
